Understanding the atoning work of Jesus Christ is essential to building a solid foundation in our Christian walk with God. For two reasons, one is to give a proper defense when someone asks why you believe in Jesus Christ whether positive or negatively. Secondly is to oppose those who try to seduce or induce you to a different gospel?
Remember Satan offend would appear as an angel of light preaching a counterfeited gospel. For example, Jehovah Witness , or the Latter Day Saints both have believed in Jesus Christ in their doctrines; however, they teach a different Jesus Christ than the apostle taught us. One taught Jesus Christ is only a great prophet who came from God. The other believes that Jesus atoning sacrifice did not cover all their sins They believe that more blood needs to be shed to atone for more life-threatening offences; for example, eye an eye.

The Latter Day Saints believe that God reveals himself through an angel to Joseph Smith in a special revelation, and wrote a book called The Book Of Mormons, and dovetail this with the Bible.

The Jehovah Witness believed that only Russell and its leaders could interpret the Bible and no one else. Much of what they believe is written in the Watchtower. AS Calvin states, “ inasmuch as their ears were tickled with a fondness for novelty. As charming as these doctrines are they’re from the pit of hell intending to deceive the sheep.

The apostle Paul when addressing the Corinthians wrote these words,  “ For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified or we preach Christ crucified.” One state is to declare it or preach it, while the other state that we should learn the gospel it so can preach it, and defend it.

While I admitted the cross is not appealing to average consumer it like saying we preach Jesus Christ and the legal injection or I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and the electric chair. In the Apostle Paul day being crucified was means punished the guilty party where they were condemn to died, and they died slowly and painfully, Only the slaves and the worst kind of criminals were executed. It was considered the most shameful and disgraceful way to die. Remember Jesus was put to death via the cross !!

For the Christian believer the cross is the means of atoning for our sins, and ensuring eternal life with Jesus Christ. As Calvin wrote,” Christ is the only foundation of the Church”, and we rest only on Christ works. As believer we need to arm ourselves with the armour of God, and learn everything about the gospel, and the true Messiah this is our foundation in which we guild our lives on.

Many false teachers disguise themselves as sheep intending to scatter the sheep, and harm them from their shameful teaching. As apostle said, “ I know that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock.” John Calvin penned these words,” they are attempting no new work. For what can be more pernicious than by a new manner of teaching to harass believers, so that they stagger in uncertainty as to the true foundation.but there are many who, while they make use of Christ’s name in pretense, tear up the whole truth of God by the roots.”
The scripture warns us not to be fooled by human cunning with cleverness in the techniques to deceit the saints. Or ears to be tickled with their smooth talk, But arm ourselves with God’s word, so you can recognize their false teaching as Calvin states,” have been well instructed in pure doctrine” to ward off false teachers.

To me, There’re two types of teachers, the first one wants to feed the sheep, the second wants to fleece the sheep or as I called them the two F.F.
