Ten Commandments  And Moral Law 

How Important They Are To Society and The Gospel

 

God spoke the Ten Commandments from Mount Sinai  roughly 2,500 year after creation. There’re several questions that we need to be address before dive into why Ten Commandment spoken and  written.  Why wasn’t there any moral laws enacted when Adam and Eve fell into sin? Secondly, why enacted 2,500 years after creation?

 A friend of mine named Bob had discussion about Ten Commandments it more like iron sharpen iron on the  talk about sparks flying. He felt since their no moral law is was  ok to marry several women, since there wasn’t any moral wrote yet. I felt are conscious was the law even thou Ten Commandments, were not written yet. The question was put before are pastor. His answer was that marriage was instituted  by God basic on Genesis 2; 24,  For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh and cited from several commentaries.  In the  K J V commentary wrote this “Marriage was instituted by God not by man; thus, God’s Word must give us the proper guidelines. Marriage was, and is to be, monogamous; God gave Adam only one wife. “ Not two  {emphasis added} Matthew Henry Commentary penned, “ The Sabbath and marriage were two ordinances instituted.” 

Plus Adam and Eve was commanded by God not to eat from  the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. They still violated God commandment.    It seems to me that God spoke His precepts to man; for example; men shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh; God rested on the seventh day from all His work in which He had done. God Instructed Adam not you not to eat, the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Remember Adam and Eve fell into sin. I am sure Adam , and Eve instructed their children to follow God instructions. Even thou some of their children still violated God precepts. For example, Cain murdered his brother Abel, Lamech marrying two wives Adah and Zillah, God destroyed his creation a flood because mankind extremely wick. Mankind erecting Tower of Babel wanting to make a name for itself violating God instruction to be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth.  The destruction of  Sodom and Gomorrah because of their sexual perversion. Such as sodomite and homosexual were common. Even if there were  no written law yet they would’ve  still violate God precept anyway. A curse was put on Cain when he murdered his brother Abel where God  uttered these words,” Your brother’s blood cries out to Me from the ground! “

What about those who follow God Instruction or known as the convent people, like Noah. Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Noah drank wine and became drunk, and uncovered himself inside his tent. Abraham lied  to  Pharaoh and Abimelech that Sarah was her sister not his wife. Pharaoh commanded his men to escorted them out of Egypt.  Isaac lied to Abimelech Rebekah was her sister instead of his wife until Abimelech caught them caressing each other. Jacob deceived his brother Esau out his own birthright. A hatred between the brothers happened resulting from the deception. The convent people built alters exactly describes by God  as means to reconcile their sins between God and man. 

Prior, to God speaking, and  than writing Ten Commandment on two stone tablets and the ceremonial laws Moses murdered an Egyptian and hid him in the sand. When Pharaoh heard  of this matter, he tried to have  Moses kill. But ,Moses fled settled in the land of Midian and dwelt there forty years. As scripture states, “They show that the work of the law is written  on their hearts. Their consciences confirm this. Their competing thoughts will either accuse or excuse them.” 

Two  questions pop in my head about why the  moral  law written?  And  why is it needed in society? One is that  society will be  protected  so we’re able to walk the street and will be  save because there’s a police force  who protects and serve us from harm, and they need a moral guild lines to enforce the law. Secondly, when we sin it tool that convict us and aid us to make right with God.   

First, the moral law keeps things in order prevent anarchy from occurring, for example, a corrupt government with laws and regulations are better than a chaotic government with no rules at all. One thing I am graceful for is that I live in country that has laws that protect people from practicing their own religions without any threats from the police and punished those who tried to violate their right to serve God.  

 

 Secondly, when we violated God law Such as, David committing adultery with Bathsheba, Aaron allowing the Israelite to create a Golden Calf and worship it. Samson slept with Delilah  a foreign woman.  Jephthah made a foolish convent with God, “If You will indeed give the sons of Ammon into my hand,  then it shall be that  O comes out of the doors of my house to meet me when I return in peace from the sons of Ammon, it shall be the Lord’s, and I will offer it up as a burnt offering.”  Her daughter came  out. Returned to her father, celebrating the victory by dancing. She  honour her vow in which  she had no relations with  any man all Israel morn. All these men were godly people that love Lord, and they’re in the Hall of faith found in Hebrew 11. Perhaps the words penned  by Psalmist David, “ my sins have overtaken me; I am unable to see. They are more than the hairs of my head.” For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil  your sight.  And  For you will not delight in sacrifice, or I would give it; you will not be pleased with a burnt offering.  The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a and contrite heart. Then, I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will return to you.  The  first  learn  when I became a Christian is that the  saints in the Bible failed God miserably and were not self-righteous; however, they love the law because of God grace they were able to move forward and serve whole heartily because the law convict of their sins and forgave them. As scripture declares,  “Your statutes are my delight. The moral law a tool convict even those who love the Lord of theirs sins.” 

 

 The law was a tool convict a sinner and lead them to Christ 

John Wesley wrote words, “Peach 90 percent law and 10 percent grace.” While he cries out, O what love have I to thy Law! All the day long is my study in it. He sees daily, in that divine mirror, more and more of his own sinfulness. He sees more and more clearly, that he is fullness a sinner in all things– that neither his heart nor his ways are right before God, and that every moment sends him to Christ. Therefore, I cannot spare the Law one moment, no more than I can spare Christ, seeing I now want it as much to keep me to Christ, as I ever wanted it to bring me to Him. Otherwise, this ‘evil heart of unbelief’ would immediately ‘depart from the living God.’ Indeed, each is continually sending me to the other–the Law to Christ, and Christ to the Law.” John Bunyan penned these words,” The man who does not know the nature of the Law, cannot know the nature of sin.” J. I. Packer wrote.” Unless we see our shortcomings in the light of the Law and holiness of God, we do not see them as sin at all.”

The moral and ceremonial laws are a fore shadow of Christ In when He will fulfill  the moral and ceremonial laws and did away the ceremonial laws as scripture states, “Therefore it was necessary for the copies of the things in the heavens to be cleansed with these, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. “

 

While Serving and Worshipping Him They Wore Sheep Clothing Disguises As Wolves

 

God declares these words  I Hate New Moon Festival even thou they fulfilled the scriptures, yet they hearts were far from God.  To me the worst kind hypocrite is religious kind when they distort the ceremonial laws that meant to atone the sinner from their sins, or they wear Jesus clothes like wearing sheep clothing disguise as wolves. As scripture state, O priests who despise My name. But you say, ‘How have we despised Your name?’ “You are presenting defiled food upon My altar. But you say, ‘How have we defiled You?’ In that you say, ‘The table of the LORD is to be despised.’ “But when you present the blind for sacrifice, is it not evil? And when you present the lame and sick, is it not evil? O priests who despise My name. But you say, ‘How have we despised Your name?’ “You are presenting defiled food upon My altar. But you say, ‘How have we defiled You?’ In that you say, ‘The table of the LORD is to be despised.’ “I will also put an end to all her gaiety, Her feasts, her new moons, her sabbaths And all her festal assemblies.“ Bring your worthless offerings no longer, Incense is an abomination to Me. ”New moon and Sabbath, the calling of assemblies—I cannot endure iniquity and  the solemn assembly. 

 

The sad part of this narrative is that they believe there’re serving God with their self-righteous deeds. My mother once said these words once the righteous are the  hardest people to convert self-righteous because they think they’re are ok because of their self-righteous deeds that they perform.  As scripture states, “For this people’s heart has become they calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise, they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts, and turn, and I would heal them.’ Wherefore. The Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honor me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear towards me is taught by the precept of men.” D. Martin Lloyd-Jones penned these words, “ You can be a member of a church and hotly resent the things of the Spirit. You may be very interested in religious organizations, in religious activities, in denominations, in activities of your particular church, and so on, but it may have nothing to do with minding the things of the Spirit. Indeed, as I say, it can be the greatest enemy of such things.”  The rejection of sacrifices and offerings  is not a rejection of the sacrificial system as such, but a condemnation of their unrented use of it. I believe Martin Lloyd Jones wrote these words. Most Christians do not realize the depth of their sin, nor the grace God has provided for them so they can freely to serve him.

The sacrificial system is where animals were offered to God for the payment of  mankind sin. A commentary stated these words, “The burnt offerings are actually ascension offerings that ascend up into the presence of God. They represent the concept that one’s offerings to the Lord are totally consumed and surrendered unto Him.” During the old testament era, the sacrificial system was meant atoning the Israelite for their sins. It’s shame many Israelites misunderstood   the sacrificial system As commentary stated, “ This is exactly where the Israelites of Isaiah’s day were failing. In many ways, they were still acknowledging the outward trappings and legal ceremonies of the sacrificial system without any real heart for the things of God. Therefore, their various religious trappings are condemned severely as the prophet speaks for God Himself. “ Yet, another quote said bests’“ You can be a member of a church and hotly resent the things of the Spirit. You may be very interested in religious organizations, in religious activities, in denominations, in activities of your particular church, and so on, but it may have nothing to do with minding the things of the Spirit. Indeed, as I say, it can be the greatest enemy of such things.”  To me these, selves righteous hypocrites live in more bondage and were worst off than a harlot. 

In short, God’s hate the new moon festival while they believe they were serving and worshipping Him. Actually, they were  wearing sheep clothing disguises as wolves. In short, God had to send Himself to atone mankind from their sins.
