Irresistible Grace
He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, Titus 3:5
Who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began, 2 Timothy 1:9
Irresistible grace is when the Holy Sprit move within the elect and call, them into salvation. Where Jesus Christ who sacrifice Himself on Calgary Cross to atone the elect or church from theirs sins. The Holy Sprit presses the elect, and there is no rest nor peace until they accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savour. Since none deserve God’s grace. He extends grace to the elect them, and has mercy on them instead applying justice on them. As scripture declares, “I will show mercy to whom I will show mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.
In article on Protestant Reformed Faith on Irresistible Grace; {Grace as the power of God to save His elect cannot be resisted. The Spirit of God and the grace obtained for God’s people through the work of His Son Jesus Christ is completely effectual and cannot be rejected by anyone whom God has chosen to be His own. By His grace and in the way of sanctification, God works in the hearts of his people a desire to love, seek, and obey Him.
John Murray wrote these words.” It is a moral and spiritual impossibility for a person to come to Christ except for the Father’s drawing.Furthermore he wrote, “Regeneration is specifically the work of the Holy Spirit, and our appreciation of the economy of salvation demands that we honor him in the distinctive functions he performs.
Dr. C. Matthew McMahon wrote, “ Since grace is undeserved by any person, Irresistible Grace teaches that when the Spirit of God is sent to change a person’s heart, that person cannot resist the change. This is when the Spirit of God applies the work of Christ to the soul.”
Canon Of Dort penned these words, “God infuses new qualities into the will, making the dead will alive, the evil one good, the unwilling one willing, and the stubborn one compliant. God activates and strengthens the will so that, like a good tree, it may be enabled to produce the fruits of good deeds. Furthermore it states, “Rather, it is an entirely supernatural work, one that is simultaneously most powerful and most pleasing, a marvelous, hidden, and inexpressible work, which is not less than, or inferior in power to that of creation or of raising the dead, as Scripture (inspired by the author of this work) teaches. Therefore, all those in whose hearts God works in this marvelous way are certainly, unfailingly, and effectively reborn and do actually believe.” Yet it furthers states, “In this life believers cannot fully understand the way this work happens meanwhile, they rest content with knowing and experiencing that, by this grace of God, they do believe with the heart and love their Savior.
For example on the day, I accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savoured I felt a heavy burden it felt like two Mac trucks were on my shoulders. The more tried to flee from it the more taxing it became. In personal testimony I wrote these words, One was accusing of being one evil SOB and in which I was guilty as charged. I violated God’s moral law I hated all Christian’s bottom line I hated God I was without excuse. To me religion and God, I was not interested even thou the hound of heaven pursuit me throughout my rebellious years. The God that terrified me when my brother suddenly died in car crash was convicting of my immoral behavior. The God terrified me was within his rights to pronounce judgement me. It likes I was in a wrestling match I could not escape.
Even thou I did not fully understand it. The only thing I knew was some guy name Jesus died on a cross for all the wrongs things we did. A story told by mother throughout my childhood years.
Around a kitchen table at Christian retreat Center called L’Abri in front of several witness. I simply asked for Jesus to forgive me & thank him. I felt a huge that burden was lifted from me & felt free indeed. All the things that hung around & haunted me instantly disappear.
– Charles Rolls wrote, “No one else possesses a greater and fuller claim or better title than Christ to counsel His redeemed people. He is altogether entitled to do so because He is the all-wise Creator and also because He submitted to a cruel cross in order to redeem and reconcile. He is the only One who conquered death and the Devil and defeated the powers of darkness. He is entitled to counsel us because of His care under all conditions; He has secured the cancellation of our sins and comforts us in times of sorrow. As Heir of all things He alone bears the qualifications to confer heirship; He alone maintains our right to inherit an incorruptible estate by His continually making intercession for us.” The Indescribable Christ

And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. Must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd. John 10;16
Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3;3
So that, you see, the Spirit of God, where it works in men, though they live in different places, yet they shall all believe the same truth and all receive the same faith.” Christopher Love“
Calling is the gathering of men together in Christ so they may be united with Him.” William Ames
“This calling is an act of the grace of God in Christ by which he calls men dead in sin and lost in Adam through the preaching of the Gospel and the power of the Holy Spirit, to union with Christ, and to salvation obtained in him.” Francis Turretin
Canon of Dort states,” God in boundless mercy has given us as a guarantee his only begotten Son who was made to be sin and a curse for us, in our place, on the cross, in order that he might give satisfaction for us.”
Does that mean that mankind is not responsible since Holy Spirit actively involved in salvation? As mother once said to my dad you knucklehead Bob. The Holy Spirit and the person are working hand in hand to fulfill the salvation plan. As scripture declares, “And how can they hear without a preacher? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: How beautiful are the feet of those who announce the gospel of good things! Without Holy Spirit both the person who brings the good news of Christ atoning works, the one who received good news, For example, a woman named Birdie ask me whether I ever prayed and gave me some scriptures verses concerting the gospel . I wanted to leave the premises; however, I unable to leave nor did I mouth her off. When I left the Holy Spirit hounded I felt trap until accepted the Lord than burden lifted. St.Augustine penned these words “Thou hast made us for thyself, O Lord, and our heart are restless until it finds its rest in thee.” In short God uses mankind to accomplished His salvation plan
There’s a theological called Monergism and Synergism. Monergism: is he position in Christian theology that God, through the Holy Spirit, works to bring about the salvation of an individual through spiritual regeneration, irrespective of the individual’s cooperation. Synergism the theology is defined as: that the human will cooperates with the Holy Ghost in the work of regeneration. Monoergism; mono meaning “one” and erg meaning “work ” Synergism: erg meaning to work and syn meaning together; hence, synergism is a “working together.” Ism is define as a suffix a distinctive doctrine, theory, system, or practice: The Greek word is θεωρία meaning a theory.
In short without the Holy Spirit, it would impossible to say Jesus is Lord or accept His atoning works. As Scripture declares, Therefore, I am informing you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus is cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.
