Gilbert West and Lord Lyttleton, two Oxford students, believed Christianity was a “tale gone mad” and they determined to refute the Christian faith. Lyttleton resolved to disprove the conversion of Saul of Tarsus, and West would refute the resurrection of Jesus Christ. They figured a careful, rational, examination of the evidence would easily disprove the Christian faith.

But after examining the evidence—they both separately came to the opposite conclusion! Lyttleton concluded that Saul of Tarsus did, in fact, convert to the Apostle Paul through Jesus Christ. And Gilbert West concluded that the Resurrection of Jesus Christ was among the best-established facts in all of history! West went on to write a book entitled, “Observations on the History and Evidences of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.”

Professor Thomas Arnold, former chair of history at Oxford, and author of the famous volumes, History of Rome, was skillfully educated in the study of historical facts. Professor Arnold, stated, “I have been used for many years to study the histories of other times, and to examine and weigh the evidence of those who have written about them, and I know of no one fact in the history of mankind which is PROVED BY BETTER AND FULLER EVIDENCE of every sort, than the great sign which God has given us that Christ died and rose again from the dead.”

After investigating the evidence of the resurrection, Lord Darling, former Chief Justice of England, stated, “. . . There is such overwhelming evidence, positive and negative, factual, and circumstantial, that no intelligent jury in the world could fail to bring in a verdict that the resurrection story is true.” Now to deny the resurrection of Jesus Christ you have to close your eyes to the overwhelming facts of history. Tim Keller penned these words, “If Jesus rose from the dead, then you have to accept all that he said; if he didn’t rise from the dead, then why worry about any of what he said? The issue on which everything hangs is not whether or not you like his teaching but whether or not he rose from the dead.”

As written in scriptures, “ O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?”  Furthermore, it  is written in the Old Testament, “I will ransom them from the power of Sheol. I will redeem them from death. Death, where are your barbs? Sheol, where is your sting?”

Christianity is the most persecuted people throughout history because of their faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ eleven of the twelve apostles were martyred because their strong belief in the resurrection of Christ. If the disciples took Jesus body the  common belief in that time frame. You would think at least one. The disciples  would reveal where Jesus body is, certainly chief priest, nor the guards kept watch over the grave site would not reveal their secret meeting. The guards would have lost their lives if Roman authority found out they abandoned their posts. The chief priests, Pharisee, and the legal expect hated Jesus, and put Him to death.  If the mass would have known their intent of killing Him, and  covering up the resurrection it also would have expose their hypocrisy to the people.  As Jesus stated the disciples, “If the world hates you, understand that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own. However, because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of it; the world hates you. Remember if world attack you remember they attack Jesus first. As scriptures declares because of Him I have suffered the loss of all things and consider them filth, so that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own from the law, but one that is through faith in Christ—the righteousness from God based on faith.  My goal is to know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death,   assuming that I will somehow reach the resurrection from among the dead. NT Write wrote, “ The resurrection completes the inauguration of God’s kingdom…It is the decisive event demonstrating that God’s kingdom really has been launched on earth as it is in heaven.  Concerning resurrection either you believe it or you do not believe it. When apostle Peter preached on the day of Pentecost in Acts 2; 31- 32  King David looked ahead and spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that He was neither abandoned to Hades, nor did His flesh suffer decay. This Jesus God raised up again, to which we are all witnesses.”  Peter also pointed to King David grave site as proof that wasn’t him. 

Jesus without doubt is one the key figure in history, Yet Wikipedia  claim Jesus has several burial sites, There located in the Christian Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem. A second site, known as the Garden Tomb, located just outside Jerusalem the Old City.   Other key religious leader such as Muhammad, Confucius, and Bahá’í  you know where they were buried For example: Muhammad is buried in the Al-Masjid al-Nabawi, The grave of Confucius, founder of Confucianism, is in his home town of Qufu, Shandong Province, China, and Bábism The Shrine of the Báb, the burial location of the Báb, the founder of Bábism and one of three central figures of the Bahá’í Faith, is located on Mount Carmel, in Haifa, Israel. Yet, the historian can only speculated where Jesus was buried.
