Psalm 22 Messianic Prophecies On Jesus Christ

In the Old Testament, there was over three hundred prophecies that were fulfilled that centered around one person Jesus Christ. According to Grand Jeffrey in the book called Armageddon: Appointment With Destiny. The odds anyone fulfilling five prophecies centre around Christ would been 120,00 to 1 for one person to do this. It would like throwing a diamond ring in the middle of Atlantic Ocean and casting fishing line in the ocean, and retrieving the diamond back in one shot. Never mind the over 300 prophesy on first and second coming written in the Old Testament about Him.
In Psalm, twenty-two there were seventeen prophecies about Jesus the birth of Christ found in Psa. 22:9 fifteen prophecies on His death and His resurrection in Psa 22:22. The Psalm was written by King David. NIV Student Bible Study Note wrote; Psalm 22 also helped The New Testament writers to see Jesus’ life as a fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy. Jews had expected a Warrior-Messiah, a son of David who, like David, would lead his people to victory through battle. In Psalm 22 they saw that David had left another legacy: victory through Jesus.
Psa. 22:9-11 You took me from the womb, making me secure while at my mother’s breast. 10 I was given over to You at birth; You have been my God from my mother’s womb. Born the Saviour Luke. 2:7
It was the Father that preserved Jesus when He was born in Bethlehem and protected throughout childhood when became man. While on the Cross Jesus needed to trust His Father when He will abandon by Him. Believer Commentary wrote,” On the basis of this past relationship of love Christ now appeals to God to draw near in this hour of His crushing, solitary trial.”
Jesus by taking on human flesh He provided redemption for mankind. This is the ultimate purpose of the incarnation: Jesus came to earth to die. By dying, He was able to conquer death in His resurrection. Hence, power of darkness and curse was broken.
Psa. 22:7 Everyone who sees me mocks me; they sneer and shake their heads: In Mt. 27:39 Those who passed by were yelling insults at Him, shaking their heads verse forty it states ,” The One who would demolish the sanctuary and rebuild it in three days, save Yourself! If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross!” Since Jesus was God it would been very easy for a Him display His power come down from the cross; however, that was not Jesus mission His mission was to redeem mankind from their sins and bridged the gap between mankind and His Father. To save Himself would have meant the loss of the entire world. Believer Bible Commentary wrote, “The cross reveals God’s love; it also reveals man’s depravity.” William Booth said, “They claimed they would have believed if He had come down; we believe because He stayed up.” The chief priests, along with the scribes, and elders mocked Him as well. Jesus stated would rebuild the temple three days. His prediction was fulfilled when He arose from the Grave. Psa. 22:8 “He trusted in God, let Him deliver Him” Mt. 27:43 Jesus was obeying His Father As scripture declares, “He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death even to death on a cross.
Psa. 22:2 My God, I cry by day, but You do not answer, by night, yet I have no rest. Mt.27:45 Now from the sixth-hour there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour.
Prior the darkness over all the land Jesus was arrested in the Garden of Gethsemane was betrayed by a friend by a kiss, denied by another all His other friends forsook Him when needed them. Question by high priest at night took to the Sanhedrin for further questioning, mocked a king, was condemned to death by the Sanhedrin at dawn. Whipped and beaten by guard prior to his execution. Mocked by crowd, leaders and two thieves. While many martyred saints endured more physical suffering than Christs did. Ain’t seen nothing yet when darkness fell over the land. Believer Bible Commentary It was during that time that He bore the indescribable curse of our sins. In those three hours were compressed the hell which we deserved, the wrath of God against all our transgressions.
R.C Sproul Jesus suffered so deeply because the extent of evil in the world is so vast. Every consequence of every sin of each one of His people was placed on Him. To carry this dreadful burden was His vocation. To bear this pain, and disease was His mission. The magnitude of this horror is beyond our understanding. But, He understood it because it was His to bear. All that is involved can never be fully known.”
In Psa. 22:1 My God, my God, why have You forsaken me? Why are You so far from my deliverance and from my words of groaning? Jesus uttered these same words on the cross-found in Matt. 27:46 and Mk. 15:34 where He felt abandoned by His father because all mankind sins and Father wrath fell upon Him resulting from Adam and Eve failure to keep God’s commandment and mankind follow in their footsteps
However the good news is, while Jesus knew no sin He took mankind sin, and if anyone who believes in Him than He replace with His righteousness. As Scripture declares He made the One who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him 0.2 Cor. 5:21
Elizabeth Barrett Browning penned these words, “Deserted! God could separate from His own essence rather; And Adam’s sins have swept between the righteous Son and Father: Yea, once, Immanuel’s orphaned cry His universe hath shaken— It went up single, echoless, My God, I am forsaken me! ”
John Calvin Commentary wrote,” it was necessary that he should be placed as a guilty person at the judgment-seat of God. Now, nothing is more dreadful than to feel that God, whose wrath is worse than all deaths, is the Judge.”
As scripture declares, “Christ ransomed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written, “Cursed be everyone who hangs on a tree.” In short, Jesus took the curse of mankind sins. However, this is the truth and simply works and it’s not abstract theory that scientist hypothesize. You can trust it. The late RC Sproul wrote, “I do not want to drive across a bridge designed by an engineer who believed the numbers in structural stress models are relative truths.”
Jesus died of a broken heart being a man felt the agony, He also felt the physical pain when they pierced His hands and feet on Calgary cross yet was without a taint of sin. The perfect purity of his nature did not extinguish the human affections. When Jesus uttered “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachtháni?” which is translated, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” The physiologic and psychological anguish and the physical sufferings and emotional was excruciating beyond description when His Father forsook Him on the account mankind sins. The Suffering Servant was convinced that He had not been forsaken by God. God’s only turns His back on the sin place upon Jesus.
Psa. 22:31 They will come and will declare His righteousness To a people who will be born, that He has performed it also states in John. 19:30 states It is finished was Jesus cry m, “eaning that His Father was satisfied with the payment of sins paid in full due through Jesus Christ. The sacrifice of sheep, goats, and bulls ceased and were no longer required. Than suddenly, the curtain of the sanctuary was split in two from top to bottom. Meaning heaven is now opened through the royal priesthood of Christ making it possible for all who believe in atoning work Christ would now have access to Father kingdom. As scripture declares,” For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father.”
Psa 22:22 states “I will proclaim Your name to my brothers; I will praise You in the congregation. Jesus resurrection is declared After Jesus rose from the grave in Jn. 20:17 Jesus declared to Mary stops clinging Him and deliver a message to brothers and sisters NIV Student Bible Note wrote concerning Psalms 22, in verse 22, the poem takes a dramatic turn, switching from grief to jubilation. Somehow, God has saved the sufferer who, in great excitement, tells others about it. He sees more than his own good fortune: He foresees this deliverance spilling over into the whole world. He predicts the story of God’s help told to future generations forever. God will be worshiped by the entire world.
Reformed Bible Study wrote, 22:31 that he has done it. The final victory of salvation is accomplished by Christ John 19:30.” Furthermore, NKJV Bible Study wrote, 22:31 to a people who will be born: The gospel message of the death and resurrection of Jesus will spread not only geographically but also throughout all time. All people will hear the clear message of what God has done. Reformed Bible Study wrote,22:31 that he has done it. The final victory of salvation is accomplished by Christ John 19:30.”
Psa 22:22 His Resurrection was declared After Jesus rose from the grave in Jn. 20:17 Jesus declared to Mary stop clinging Him and delivers a message to her brothers and sisters that He risen from the graves and conquered death, and He wanted to convey the message to His disciples. Later on Holy Spirit would descend upon 120 follower of Christ. They will spread the atoning works of Christ throughout Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
The Apostle John wrote,” After this I looked, and there was a vast multitude from every nation, tribe, people, and language, which no one could number, standing before the throne, and before the Lamb. They were robed in white with palm branches in their hands.” Today, roughly 400 millions are follower of Christ and still growing. To those who believe and accept Jesus atoning work are graceful that He stay on the cross did not come down.
