Luke 2:18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. John MacArthur, wrote all those who heard it marveled. Wonderment at the mysteries of Christ’s words and works is one of the threads that runs through Luke’s gospel. Cf. vv. 19, 33, 47, 48; 1:21, 63; 4:22, 36; 5:9; 8:25; 9:43–45; 11:14; 20:26; 24:12, 41. Where Dr Luke would often report this response when someone encounter Jesus. Throughout Luke and Acts accounts. Where the shepherd reported what the angel declared in Luke 2:11.
Holman commentary wrote ,” The function of the child was the gospel. Shepherds found in a manger the Savior, the Messiah, the Lord himself. They let everyone in hearing distance know Everyone in Bethlehem began talking about God’s mysterious surprise—a surprise made known firsthand only to a couple from Nazareth and unappreciated shepherds carrying out their lonely nighttime tasks.
They proclaimed their findings to all who would listen. They turned back toward their jobs; a new song of praise in their hearts
Calvin wrote, “ They honestly delivered to others what they had received from the Lord; and it was advantageous to all of us that they should attest this, and should be a sort of secondary angels in confirming our faith. They proclaimed their findings to all who would listen.”
The best way to proclaim the gospel and Christ atoning work on the cross. You no longer bear the burden of sins. As scripture declares,” Then I acknowledged my sin to You and did not conceal my iniquity. I said,“ I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,” and You took away the guilt of my sin. Furthermore it states,” If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
For example,” In 1987, David Berkowitz known as Son of Sam repented of sins and became a born Christian. According to his personal testimony, his moment of conversion occurred after reading Psalm 34:6; “This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him And saved him out of all his troubles.” He said this prayer; I told Him that I was sick and tired of doing evil. I asked for Jesus to forgive me for all my sins.” In his own words, he stated, “ I spent a good while on my knees praying to Him. When I got up it felt as if a very heavy burden an invisible chain that had been around me for so many years was suddenly broken. A peace flooded over him. He did not understand what was happening. But in his heart He just knew that my life, somehow, would be different. He slept like a baby. Another favourite text is Romans 10:13. It says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Here, it is clear that God has no favourites. He rejects no one, but welcomes all who will call upon Him.
Regretting being called the Son Of Son. He changed his name to the Son Of Hope. Taking full ownership for the crime that he committed in the past, and he never applied for parole for sake of the victim. He felt they suffered enough and believed the punishment was just and fair, and believe his mission field was in prison where he serving as a chaplain.
Or Tex Watson On October 21, 1971, Watson was found guilty, and sentenced to death. He escaped execution when the California Supreme Court’s overturned the death penalty, and he was sentenced to life in prison.
While in prison he was extremely restless, and his mother encouraged him trust in Christ and prayed for him as well; however, there was still no peace in his life. One day He was attending chapel service, and he heard a message on one 1 Timothy 1; 15-16; “ This is a trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance: “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners “–and I am the worst of them. But, I received mercy for this reason, so that in me, the worst of them, Christ Jesus might demonstrate His extraordinary patience for instance to those who would believe in Him for eternal life.” According to pastor preached this message the Apostle Paul was a head strong man and intended to destroyed the church until Christ met him on the road to Damascus, and changed Paul life. Tex than confess repent, and believed in Christ. There was a peace and ecstatic joy that he never felt before in his life. When he went back to his cell , he looked into the mirror, and he saw a smile on his face that brightened up his cell. According to Tex, he never experience this while on drugs or alcohol. The only experience he felt was unending sadness, no rest, and no pleasure in his life only misery. Where he spent all kinds of money on drugs and alcohol and in which brought him no joy. Yet, the free gift from God Jesus brought him endless delight.
Tex Watson, “In the world when something is broken, it is set aside. But in the Kingdom of God, He sets aside the unbroken thing. It is the precious, broken thing that He uses to confound the wise and show the world His glory through vessels of clay.”
As scripture declares,” How joyful is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered! How joyful is the man the Lord does not charge with sin and in whose spirit is no deceit! In short, the best way to declare the gospel is to tell your story
