The Law And The Gospel

 The Law And The Gospel

James 2;10a

Romans 7; 7-12

Deut. 27:26.

Exodus 20;1-17

Deuteronomy 5; 5-21

Deuteronomy 6;1

When God spoke the Ten Commencement from Mount Sini to the Jewish people in Exodus 20;1-17 and also in Deuteronomy 5; 5-21

Deuteronomy 6;1  This is the command–the statutes and ordinances–the LORD your God has instructed me to teach you, so that you may follow them in the land you are about to enter and possess. Essentially Moses  telling Jewish people  that  God is holy, and all the moral law is to be obey and to violate one part of the law you’re violating all of the laws. In James 2; 10 it states  For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all. Jesus states,” For I assure you: Until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or one stroke of a letter will pass from the law until all things are accomplished. Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commands and teaches people to do so will be called least in the kingdom of heaven. Deut. 27:26. ‘Anyone who does not put the words of this law into practice is cursed.’

Believer Bible Commentary,”It is not enough to keep the law for a day, or a month, or a year. One must continue to keep it. Obedience must be complete. It is not enough to keep just the Ten Commandments. All six hundred and some laws in the five books of Moses must be obeyed! It impossible obey the moral law and please God.”

So why is the  moral law important? Why is moral law important to the gospel?

Romans 7; 7-12 Apostle Paul asks question What should we say then? Is the law sin? Absolutely not! On the contrary, I would not have known sin if it were not for the law. For example he wrote,”I would not have known what it is to covet if the law had not said, Do not covet.  And sin, seizing an opportunity through the commandment, produced in me coveting of every kind.

Furthermore he wrote, “Once I was alive apart from the law, but when the commandment came, sin sprang to life  and I died. The commandment that was meant for life resulted in death for me.”

For sin, seizing an opportunity through the commandment, deceived me, and through it killed me.  So then, the law is holy, and the commandment is holy and just and good.

For example Apostle John wrote But the one who hates his brother is in the darkness, walks in the darkness, and doesn’t know where he’s going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.

For instance, if walking across the street, and its states do not walk  you’re violating law. If travel at 51 kilometre and signs states 50 kilometre you’re breached the law. If the sign says to stop, and if come a rolling stop you’re breaking the law. In short, mankind violator of the moral law.

Galatians 2:16 That no one is justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ. And we have believed in Christ Jesus so that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no human being will be justified.

Romans 3:20 Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.

Believer Bible Commentary wrote,”Jews who had been saved knew that there was no salvation in the law. The law condemned to death those who failed to obey it perfectly. This brought the curse on all, because all have broken its sacred precepts. The Savior is here presented as the only true object of faith. Paul reminds Peter that “even we Jews” came to the conclusion that salvation is by faith in Christ and not by law-keeping. What was the sense now of Peter’s putting Gentiles under the law? The law told people what to do but gave them no power to do it. It was given to reveal sin, not to be a savior. God’s Law was tool that was design to reveal mankind sin and lead us to Christ

Jesus uttered these words in Matthew 5;17  Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the. Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. Believer Bible wrote, He Jesus clearly insisted that not one jot or one tittle would pass from the law until it was completely fulfilled.Jesus believed in the literal inspiration of the Bible, even in what might seem small unimportant details. Nothing in Scripture, even the smallest stroke, is without significance.

John MacArthur wrote, Christ was indicating that He is the fulfillment of the law in all its aspects. He fulfilled the moral law by keeping it perfectly. He fulfilled the ceremonial law by being the embodiment of everything the law’s types and symbols pointed to. And He fulfilled the judicial law by personifying God’s perfect justice.

To be prophet from God, you need to be 100% accurate or  you declared a false prophet and are put to death. As scriptures state, “ but the prophet who speaks a word presumptuously in My name which I have not commanded him to speak, or which he speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die.

In Galatians 3;19  it states,” Why then was the law given? It was added because of transgressions until the Seed to whom the promise was made would come. The law was put into effect through angels by means of a mediator.”

John MacArthur, wrote,”Christ’s death, because it was a death of substitution for sin, satisfied God’s justice and exhausted His wrath toward His elect, so that Christ actually purchased believers from slavery to sin and from the sentence of eternal death

Believer Bible Commentary,”To redeem is to buy back, or to deliver by paying the price. The curse of the law is death—the penalty for breaking its commandments. Christ has delivered those under law from paying the penalty of death demanded by the law  to redeem those under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.

Galatian 4:5 it states,”Christ redeem those under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.

John MacArthur wrote “Guilty sinners who are under the law’s demands and its curses  and in need of a savior. the adoption as sons. “Adoption” is the act of bringing someone who is the offspring of another into one’s own family. Since unregenerate people are by nature children of the devil, the only way they can become God’s children is by spiritual adoption (Rom. 8:15, 23; Eph. 1:5).”Romans 5:9,”Much more then, since we have now been declared righteous by His blood, we will be saved through Him from wrath. Johm MacArthur,Christ bore the full fury of God’s wrath in the believing sinner’s place, and there is none left for him (see 8:1; 1 Thess. 1:10; 5:9).

Believer Bible Commentary wrote,”The law demanded a price from those who failed to keep it—the price of death. Before God could bring men into the wonderful position of sonship, this price had to be paid. So the Lord Jesus, coming into the world as a member of the human race and of the Jewish nation, and paid the price that the law.s long as men were slaves, they could not be sons. Christ delivered them from the bondage of the law in order that they might be adopted as sons

Romans 5:9,”Much more then, since we have now been declared righteous by His blood, we will be saved through Him from wrath.

Believer Bible Commentary wrote,”We are no longer reckoned as guilty sinners. At the enormous cost of the Savior’s blood, shed for us at Calvary, we have been counted righteous by God. Since He went to such tremendous cost to justify us when we were sinners,  Christ willy went to the Cross  sacrifice    Himself  on it   took mankind sins and His Father wrath to bridge the gap between His Father and mankind

John MacArthur wrote,” What Paul is about to say is even more amazing and wonderful. justified by His blood. Through His violent, substitutionary death. References to the blood of the Savior include the reality that He bled in His death (a necessity to fulfill the OT imagery of sacrifice),

Galatians 2:20  sunup well I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.  Believer Bible Commentary wrote, “Not only was He crucified on Calvary, I was crucified there as well—in Him. This means the end of me as a sinner in God’s sight.

The Late Dr Lewis Johnson wrote, “If a man could be justified by doing good works, what’s the point of the cross of Christ? If a man could be justified by joining the church, by being religious, by being a philanthropist in the community, by being a highly regarded citizen, what is the point of the cross of Jesus Christ? “
