The Work Of Christ

Offices of prophet, priest, and king all important in OT
OT anticipates a better officeholder for each office
The prophet of Deuteronomy 18:15
The Davidic king of 2 Samuel 7
The substitutionary servant of Isaiah 53
Jesus the Prophet, in “The crowds answered, ‘This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.’” (Matthew 21:11) Also John 4;19“‘Sir,’ the woman said, ‘I can see that you are a prophet.’”
Where in Deuteronomy 18:15 For Moses said, “The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own people; you must listen to everything he tells you. Anyone who does not listen to him will be completely cut off from among his people. Lastly in Matthew 13;57‘Only in his hometown and in his own house is a prophet without honour.’
A prophet who speak on behalf God need to be 110% accurate in Deuteronomy 18; 20;22 ‘Only in his hometown and in his own house is a prophet without honour.’ When a prophet speaks in the Lord’s name, and the message does not come true or is not fulfilled, that is a message the Lord has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him.
Jesus had display that He was a prophet foretold Moses, The Heidelberg Catechism calls Him “our chief Prophet and Teacher, who has fully revealed to us the secret counsel and will of God concerning our redemption” (A. 31) RC Sproul As the Prophet, Jesus is the only One who can reveal what God has been purposing in history “since the world began” and who can teach and make manifest the real meaning of the “scriptures of the prophets” (the Old Testament; see Rom. 16:25–26). We can expect to make progress in the Christian life only as we heed His instruction and teaching.
But Christ did both perfectly. Romans 5:19 says, “By the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.” Romans 5:10 says, “When we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son.” There is no other way to come into the presence of God than through Christ alone.
For example in Luke 4; 18- 19 Jesus uttered “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim release to the captives, And recovery of sight to the blind, To set free those who are oppressed, To proclaim the favourable year of the Lord. And Jesus said, “While you heard these words just now, they were coming true! Since Jesus proclaims these words either he was a prophet or God Himself, since He declared these concerning Himself. The stakes were higher Him.
John MacArthur in sermon on Blind for the Glory of God spoke these words concerning Jesus healing powers, “People with deformed and diseased organs were given new organs.  People with blind eyes given new eyes.  People who couldn’t hear given new ears.
Healing of Simon mother In Law Luke 4;38- 39.
Healing of Leper Luke 5; 13- 14.
Healing of paralytic Luke 5; 25- 26.
Healing centurion’s slave Luke 7; 10
Rising young man who was dead Luke 7; 14-15.
Forgiving a Immoral woman of her sins. Luke 7; 40- 50
Casting out demons Luke 8; 32.
Jesus brought Lazarus back from the dead after being dead for four days. John 11;43-44
Jesus predicted his death and resurrection found in, Mark 8:31, Mark 9:30-32, and, Mark 10:32- 34: note the accuracy in Mark 10: 32 – 34,
Jesus also predicted that second temple would be completely destroyed Found in Matthew 24; 2 Do you see all these things?” he asked. “Truly I tell you, not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down.” In 70 AD 40 years after Jesus’ death and resurrection Tiberius Julius Alexander and the roman soldiers. Even thou Tiberius wanted preserved the temple, however, the Roman solider destroyed the famous Second Temple and burn it to the ground. Accordingly, Historian Josephus claimed that Titus wanted to preserve the temple, but his soldiers were so angry at their resilient opponents that they burned it. The remaining Jews were slaughtered or sold as slaves. Several thing to considered; one it occurred 40 year after Jesus death and resurrection. The Romans magistrate were not exactly friendly to the Christian cultures if any they wanted to exterminate the christian movement The Roman solder likely were not aware Jesus predication, if they knew perhaps would have left the temple intact.
Jesus also predicated many false Christs and false prophets warn His follower not to follow them or listen them.

Adolf Hitler (1889-1945 responsible for exterminating six million Jewish people.
Charles Manson 1934) ordering his family of butchering nine people 1969 serving a life sentence.
Jim Jones (1931–1978 accountable for over 909 follower to commit suicide along with himself order the the killing of man Leo Ryan U.S. Representative from California’s 11th congressional district.
Charles Ryrie “The prophet spoke to men from God; the priest speaks to God for men.”
In Leviticus 21;1, 22;16 Aaron brother Moses was appointed and his sons were appointed by God The High Priest “The prophet spoke to men from God; the priest speaks to God for men.” Scriptures declares Speak unto Aaron and to his sons, saying: This is the law of the sin-offering: in the place where the burnt-offering is killed shall the sin-offering be killed before the LORD; it is most holy. In Hebrew 5;1“Every high priest is selected from among men and is appointed to represent them in matters related to God, to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins. In Leviticus 16;3-5 Aaron is to enter the most holy place in this way: with a young bull for a sin offering and a ram for a burnt offering. 4 He is to wear a holy linen tunic, and linen undergarments are to be on his body. He must tie a linen sash around him and wrap his head with a linen turban. These are holy garments; he must bathe his body with water before he wears them. 5 He is to take from the Israelite community two male goats for a sin offering and one ram for a burnt offering. Responsible for representing the people before God Represented people especially by offering sacrifices. Two types of offerings – thank offerings and guilt offerings. “The tenth day of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement. You are to hold a sacred assembly and practice self-denial; you are to present a fire offering to the Lord.
Where in Leviticus 16;21-22  Aaron will lay both his hands on the head of the live goat and confess over it all the Israelites’ wrongdoings and rebellious acts—all their sins. He is to put them on the goat’s head and send it away into the wilderness by the man appointed for the task. 22 The goat will carry on it all their wrongdoings into a desolate land, and he will release it there.
According Encyclopaedia Britannica the chief religious functionary in the Temple of Jerusalem, whose unique privilege was to enter the Holy of Holies (inner sanctum) once a year on Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, to burn incense and sprinkle sacrificial animal blood to expiate his own sins and those of the people of Israel. On this occasion he wore only white linen garments, forgoing the elaborate priestly vestments worn during the year whenever he chose to officiate at services. “For the life of the flesh is in the blood; and I have given it for you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement, by reason of the life.”Leviticus 17:11

When Jesus is called our High Priest, it is with reference to both of these previous priesthoods. Like Melchizedek, He is ordained as a priest apart from the Law given on Mount Sinai (Hebrews 5:6).as he says also in another place, You are a priest forever,
Like the Levitical priests, Jesus offered a sacrifice to satisfy the Law of God when He offered Himself for our sins (Hebrews 7:26-27). For it was indeed fitting that we should have such a high priest, holy, innocent, unstained, separated from sinners, and pexalted above the heavens. 27 He has no need, like those high priests, to offer sacrifices daily, first for his own sins and then for those of the people, since he did this once for all when he offered up himself. Unlike the Levitical priests, who had to continually offer sacrifices, Jesus only had to offer His sacrifice once, gaining eternal redemption for all who come to God through Him (Hebrews 9:12). Jesus entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and calves but by means of his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption.
Hebrews has several passages depicting Jesus as the High Priest (Hebrews 2:17; 3:1; 4:14-5:10; 6:20; 7:11-8:2; 10:12). of priest was an important one in the Old Testament system and is fulfilled by Jesus.
Jesus as High Priest mediates for us. His sacrifice is what provides cleansing for our sins. Rather than a yearly (or daily) atonement, Jesus’ sacrifice is once-for-all (Hebrews 10:1-18). Jesus, like the high priests of Old Testament times, stands in the gap between us (the people) and God. He made the necessary sacrifice for us (Jesus was without sin so did not need to offer a sacrifice for Himself as did the high priests of the Old Testament). Those who have put their faith in Jesus have been made righteous by Him (2 Corinthians 5:21) and are now able to enter into God’s presence.
John 1:29 “‘Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!’
Romans 8:3, “For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in sinful man…”
“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are – yet was without sin.” (Hebrews 4:15)
Also “sympathize[s] with our weaknesses” (Hebrews 4:15)
Atonement not Jesus’ only work as priest

“‘He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end.’” (Luke 1:32-33)
Since the second Temple was destroyed in 70 AD were all the family tree of the Jewish descendant were kept in great details and they were scattered throughout Europe and Asia, and would have been impossible to trace Judah line never mind David line found in 2 Samuel 7:12-13 especially King Solomon line where the royal line was established, in 1 Chronicles 3:5–8 and 1 King 1:30, Believer Commentary wrote,” It seems obvious that the Messianic line ended with the Lord Jesus. No one else can ever present a valid legal claim to the throne of David.

However, there is a record found in Luke 3; 23-38 and Matthew 1; 1-16 this was the line of King David Mary and Joseph was in king David line. Mary was found in Luke 3; 23-38 for an example in Luke 3 (v. 23) was the father-in-law of Joseph and the father of Mary.also was descended from David through his son Nathan (v. 31 Solomon brother. Joseph line found in Matthew 1; 1-16 where in Matthew 1:6 it states Solomon mother of Bathsheba. Where royal line was established as promise by King David found in 1 Chronicles 3:5–8 and 1 King 1:30.
Since God promised King David that his line would reign forever found in 2 Samuel 7:12-13 However, Joseph was not Jesus’ true father since the Holy Spirit impregnated Mary found in Matthew 1:16 and Luke 3:23.
Believer Commentary wrote, In Jeremiah 22:30 God pronounced a curse on this man: Thus says the LORD:” Write this man down as childless, A man who shall not prosper in his days; For none of his descendants shall prosper, Sitting on the throne of David, And ruling anymore in Judah. The nations of Jewish people were capture and were sent into exile where they cease ruling on the throne; however, the family tree continued on until Joseph
“If Jesus had been the real son of Joseph, He could not have redeemed mankind from the of their sin. Since Joseph was also part of Adam curse, and Jesus could not be the true lamb of God that would take away the sins of the world. As scripture declares,” I was sinful when my mother conceived me. For I am conscious of my rebellion, and my sin is always before me. Yet, He had to be the legal son of Joseph in order to inherit the rights to the throne of David.

The problem was solved by the miracle of the virgin birth: Jesus was the legal heir to the throne through Joseph. He was the real Son of David through Mary. The curse on Jeconiah did not fall on Mary or her children since she did not descend from Jeconiah shall not prosper, “Yet He had to be the legal son of Joseph in order to inherit the rights to the throne of David. Since Joseph was in Solomon family tree where royal line was established. Since seed came from Holy Spirit Jesus would not be effect by the sin curse

“They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, ‘Hosanna!’ ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!’ ‘Blessed is the King of Israel!’” (John 12:13)
Meanwhile Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor asked him, ‘Are you the king of the Jews?’ ‘Yes, it is as you say,’ Jesus replied.” (Matthew 27:11)
One day all will recognize Jesus as king
“Out of his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. ‘He will rule them with an iron scepter.’ He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.” (Revelation 19:15-16)
