How A Christian Should Live In Society

Ephesians 5:22-33

. Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands. that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, so that he might present the church to himself in splendour, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish. In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” because we are members of his body. This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church. However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.

1 Peter3;1-7 Likewise, wives, be subject to your own husbands, so that even if some do not obey the word, they may be won without a word by the conduct of their wives, when they see your respectful and pure conduct. Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious. For this is how the holy women who hoped in God used to adorn themselves, by submitting to their own husbands, as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord. And you are her children, if you do good and do not fear anything that is frightening. Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honour to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.

While this passage stir up animosity among the breathers within in churches, some churches, separated over this issues and much bad blood or bad feeling among the believers where brothers and sisters would not talk to each others, they would sometimes would walk over on, the other side of the street avoid them.

What does the scriptures, says how should a husbands treat his wife? And what wives roll Tao her husband ?

Verses Ephesians 5 22,24 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. The word submit does not mean takes a baseball bat with word submit on bash over her head . Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands.

The Greek word for submit is hypotassō a verb meaning “1) to arrange under, to subordinate2) to subject, put in subjection 3) to subject one’ s self, obey 4) to submit to one’ s control5) to yield to one’ s admonition or advice 6) to obey, be subject

Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.” Ephesians 5:21 (KJV)

This verse is sometimes used to teach a mutual submission that cancels out the roles of authority and submission in marriage. I think it is more likely that “submitting” is used here as it is throughout the rest of the New Testament. The verses on this page show that it consistently appears as a response to authority. If we take it that way here, does that mean that we are to take turns submitting to each other’s authority? I don’t think so. That would be confusing. Instead, I believe this verse is a segue to the following section which is about three relationships that involve authority. There is the submission of wives to husbands in verses Eph. 22-24, the obedience of children to parents in Eph. 6:1-3, and the obedience of slaves to masters in Eph. 6:5-8. These three relationships follow the pattern that we have seen elsewhere regarding the word hupotassō – there is one party that submits to the authority of another..

Calvin wrote,Ephesians 5:22 (CC Ga/Eph): The community at large is divided, as it were, into so many yokes, out of which arises mutual obligation. There is, first, the yoke of marriage between husband and wife;—secondly, the yoke which binds parents and children;—and, thirdly, the yoke which connects masters and servants. By this arrangement there are six different classes, for each of whom Paul lays down peculiar duties. He begins with wives, whom he enjoins to be subject to their husbands, in the same manner as to Christ,—as to the Lord. Not that the authority is equal, but wives cannot obey Christ without yielding obedience to their husbands.

The LORD God fashioned into a woman the rib which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man. The man said, “This is now bone of my bones, And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman Because she was taken out of Man.” For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh. Genesis 2:22-24 NASB

Ephesians 5:22 (BBC): The same is true in the home. There must be a head, and there must be obedience to that head. God ordained that the place of headship be given to the man. He indicated this by creating man first, then creating woman for the man. Thus, both in the order and purpose of creation, He put man in the place of authority and woman in the place of submission.

Submission never implies inferiority. The Lord Jesus is submissive to God the Father, but in no way is He inferior to Him. Neither is the woman inferior to the man. In many ways she may be superior—in devotedness, in sympathy, in diligence, and in heroic endurance. But wives are commanded to submit to their own husbands, as to the Lord. In submitting to the authority of her husband, a wife is submitting to the Lord’s authority. This in itself should remove any attitude of reluctance or rebellion.

History abounds with illustrations of the chaos resulting from disobedience to God’s pattern. By usurping the place of leadership, and acting for her husband, Eve introduced sin into the human race, with all its catastrophic results. In more recent times many of the false cults were started by women who usurped a place of authority which God never intended them to have. Women who leave their God-appointed sphere can wreck a local church, break up a marriage, and destroy a home.Ephesians

: On the other hand, there is nothing more attractive than a woman fulfilling the role which God has assigned to her. A full-length portrait of such a woman is given in Proverbs 31—an enduring memorial to the wife and mother who pleases the Lord.

John Gil wrote not to any other man, nor to her children, nor to her servants, or any brought into her house ,and this consideration should render the subjection more easy, voluntary, and cheerful: and which is but reasonable that it should be; as may but reasonable. For example, if the husband show respect and honour her she would willy submit to him , if he is unreasonable than submit to him as unto the Lord.

verse 22As to the Lord 24 Now as the church submits to Christ,

JohnGils wrote, the credit of religion requires it, that so the word of God be not blasphemed: wherefore it follows, as unto the Lord; that is, either as the Lord has commanded, that so it should be, shewing a regard to his precepts; or as in the sight of the Lord, and so yielding it sincerely and heartily; or in things pertaining to the Lord, which are consistent with the law of the Lord, and the Gospel of Christ; and in like manner as the church is subject to Christ, her Lord and husband, as follows. If the husband ask the wife violate God’s law she obligate to obey God’s moral law

Concerning Husband’s role to his wife

In 1 Peter 3;7 Likewise , husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honour to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered. Or Ephesians 5 25, 28: 29.and 30; Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, because we are members of his body.

Believer Bible Commentary wrote In this day of the women’s liberation movement, the Bible might seem out of step with the times in speaking of women as the weaker vessels. But it is a simple fact of life that the average woman is weaker than the man physically. Also, generally speaking, she does not have the same power to control her emotions and is more frequently guided by emotional reactions than by rational, logical thought. The handling of deep theological problems is not characteristically her forte. And, in general, she is more dependent than the man.

But the fact that a woman is weaker in some ways does not mean that she is inferior to man; the Bible never suggests this. Neither does it mean that she might not actually be stronger, or more competent in some areas. As a matter of fact, women are generally more devoted to Christ than men. And they usually are better able to bear prolonged pain and adversity.

A man’s attitude toward his wife should recognize the fact that she is a fellow heir of the grace of life. This refers to a marriage in which both are believers. Though weaker than the man in some ways, the woman enjoys equal standing before God and shares equally the gift of everlasting life. Also she is more than her husbands equal in bringing new physical life into the world.

When there is discord, prayers are hindered. Bigg says: “The sighs of the injured wife come between the husband’s prayers and God’s hearing.”23 Also it is very difficult for a couple to pray together when something is disrupting their fellowship. For the peace and welfare of the home the husband and wife need to observe a few basic rules: Furthermore, he Overlook minor faults and idiosyncrasies. Love covers a multitude of sins. Don’t demand perfection in others when you are unable to produce it in yo.

1. Remember that love is a commandment, not an uncontrollable emotion. Love means all that is included in 1 Corinthians 13. Love is courteous, for instance; it will keep you from criticizing or contradicting your partner in front of others. Love will keep you from quarreling in front of your children, which could undermine their security.

2. In these and a hundred other ways, love creates a happy atmosphere in the home and rules out strife and separations.Keep lines of communication open. There must be a constant readiness to talk things out. When steam is allowed to build up in the boiler, an explosion is inevitable. Talking things out includes the willingness for each to say, “I am sorry,” and to forgive—perhaps indefinitely.

3. Overlook minor faults and idiosyncrasies. Love covers a multitude of sins. Don’t demand perfection in others when you are unable to produce it in yourself.

1 Thessalonians 4:4 (ENTVIIII): The commentators on the passage add, in the vessel which he has chosen; that is to say, “whether he will or no, he must marry her;” see Prov. 5:15. And again, they sometimes call a man’s wife his tent: hence that saying, “אין אהלו אלא אשתו. “there’s no tent but his wife, as it is said, Deut. 5:30 go, say to them, get you into your tents again,” And certain it is, that the woman is called the weaker vessel in 1 Pet. 3:7 between which passage and this there seems to be some agreement. The same metaphor of a vessel is made use of in both; and as there, honour is to be given to the weaker vessel, so here, a man’s vessel is to be possessed in honour; and as there, husbands are to dwell with their wives according to knowledge, so here, knowledge is required to a man’s possessing his vessel aright. Now for a man to possess his vessel in this sense, is to enjoy his wife, and to use that power he has over her in a becoming manner; see 1 Cor. 7:4 and which is here directed to in sanctification and honour;

For example, women are like China cups if you dropped the cup it would shatter, however, if pour boiling water in the cup it withstands the heat.

In Genesis 2; 20, 22-23 The man gave names to all livestock and to the birds of the heavens and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper fit for him. And the rib that the Lord God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man. Then the man said,“This at last is bone of my bonesand flesh of my flesh;she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.”

Meaning Adam was missing something a suitable help meet his needs

Genesis 2:22 (EOTVIVI): And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he woman, &c.] It is commonly observed, and pertinently enough, that the woman was not made from the superior part of man, that she might not be thought to be above him, and have power over him; nor from any inferior part, as being below him, and to be trampled on by him; but out of his side, and from one of his ribs, that she might appear to be equal to him; and from a part near his heart, and under his arms, to shew that she should be affectionately loved by him, and be always under his care and protection:

The women came from the man ribs meaning not to be behind him or front of him but to beside him

Genesis 2:15–23 (BBC): This prepared Adam for a helper who would be comparable to himself. His bride was formed from one of his ribs, taken from his side as he slept. So from Christ’s side, His Bride was secured as He shed His life’s blood in untold agony. The woman was taken not from Adam’s head to dominate him, nor from his feet to be trodden down, but from under his arm to be protected, and from near his heart to be loved.

In Ehesians 5; 25, 28-30 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the Church, because we are members of his body.

Wow those men that use a submission club on their wives need to consider their role to their wives It is worth noting 5 verses in regards to the husband’s role to their wives along.

Ephesians 5:25 (BBC): Husbands are not told to keep their wives in subjection; they are told to love their wives just as Christ also loved the church. It has been well said that no wife would mind being submissive to a husband who loves her as much as Christ loves the church. Someone wrote of a man who feared he was displeasing God by loving his wife too much. A Christian worker asked him if he loved her more than Christ loved the church. He said no. “Only when you go beyond that,” said the worker, “are you loving your wife too much.” Christ’s love for the church is presented here in three majestic movements extending from the past to the present to the future. In the past, He demonstrated His love for the church by giving Himself for her. This refers to His sacrificial death on the cross. There He paid the greatest price in order to purchase a Bride for Himself. Just as Eve was brought forth from the side of Adam, so, in a sense, the church was created from the wounded side of the Savior.

I know a man who is married he prepared a meal for wife tend his children wife when she tired take his daughter for walks, and does the laundry, and has a good paying job. He said that luckily have her as a wife believe me she luckily him as a husband.

Lastly, I am single and have no plans to get married, I am single and satisfied, being single has some advantages, however, there are many drawbacks as well, for example I am missing an important piece in my life I am missing a good wife, as scriptures declare, A man who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favour from the LORD.

However, it was ever tired the knot

Ephesians 6; 1-3 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise), Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. “that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.”

Ephesians 6;5-9 Bondservants, obey your earthly masters with fear and trembling, with a sincere heart, as you would Christ, not by the way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, rendering service with a good will as to the Lord and not to man, knowing that whatever good anyone does, this he will receive back from the Lord, whether he is a bondservant or is free. A strong community starts waitin the home without structures within the family the society would not funtion basic and essential building blocks of societies, families have a crucial role in social development. They bear the primary responsibility for the education and socialization of children as well as instilling values of citizenship and belonging in society.

Dr. Laura Markham Structure offers children a sense of security and control in a world full of uncertainty – and helps create healthy habits that last into adulthood. Plus, you’re building overall healthy family relationships.

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise),

Through the Bible wrote,Disobedience to parents is the last and lowest form of lawlessness to occur on this earth. “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy” (2 Tim. 3:1–2). Disobedience to parents is one of the characteristics of the last days. Today we hear of many cases of children rejecting parental authority and even killing their parents! This is indicative of the times in which we live

Of course there will come a time in a boy’s life when he begins to rebel against his parents because it is time for him to move out and get married and start a home of his own. God has given him a nature that rebels against being a mama’s boy, tied to his mama’s apron strings for the rest of his life. God wants him to stand on his own two feet. This kind of rebellion, this struggle for independence, is different from disobedience.

Ephesians 6:1 (ENTVIIII): Children, obey your parents in the Lord, &c.] The persons whose duty this is, children, are such of every sex, male and female, and of every age, and of every state and condition; and though the true, legitimate, and immediate offspring of men may be chiefly respected, yet not exclusive of spurious children, and adopted ones, Furermore he wrote, Ephesians 6:2 (ENTVIIII): Honour thy father and mother, &c.] This explains who parents are, and points at some branches of obedience due unto them; for they are not only to be loved, and to be feared, and reverenced, their corrections to be submitted to, offences against them to be acknowledged, their tempers to be bore with, and their infirmities covered; but they are to be honoured in thought, word, and gesture; they are to be highly though.

Ephesians 6:3 (ENTVIIII): That it may be well with thee, &c.] In this world, and that which is to come; see Deut. 5:16. The Jews say, “there are four things, which if a man does, he eats the fruit of them in this world, and the capital part remains for him in the world to come; and they are these, כיבוד אב ואם, honouring father and mother, doing acts of beneficence, making peace between a man and his neighbour, and learning of the law, which answers to them all.” And thou mayest live long on the earth: length of days is in itself a blessing; and though men’s days can’t be lengthened beyond God’s purpose and decree; and though obedient children don’t always live long; yet disobedience to parents often brings the judgments of God on children, so that they die not a common death, 2 Sam. 18:14; Prov. 30:17. On those words in Deut. 32:47 the Jews have this paraphrase; “because it is your life,

In.Ephians .6.4 Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.Colossians 3:21Fathers, do not provoke your children, so they will not become discouraged Proverbs 22;6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Proverbs 19:18 – Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying.

Ephesians 6:4 (BBC): The instructions to children are now balanced with advice to fathers. They should not provoke their children to anger with unreasonable demands, with undue harshness, with constant nagging. Rather children should be nurtured in the training and admonition of the Lord. Training means discipline and correction, and may be verbal or corporal. Admonition means warning, rebuke, reproof. Child-qqqtraining should be “in the Lord,” that is, carried out in accordance with His will as revealed in the Bible by one who acts as His representative.

Susannah Wesley, the mother of seventeen children, including John and

Charles, once wrote: The parent who studies to subdue self-will in his child, works together with God in the renewing and saving of a soul. The parent who indulges it, does the Devil’s work, makes religion impractical, salvation unattainable, and does all that in him lies to damn his child, soul and body forever

Ephesians 6:4 (ENTVIIII): And ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath, &c.] Neither by words; by unjust and unreasonable commands; by contumelious and reproachful language; by frequent and public chidings, and by indiscreet and passionate expressions: nor by deeds; preferring one to another; by denying them the necessaries of life; by not allowing them proper recreation; by severe and cruel blows, and inhuman usage; by not giving them suitable education; by an improper disposal of them in marriage; and by profusely spending their estates, and leaving nothing to them: not but that parents may, and ought to correct and rebuke their children; nor are they accountable to them for their conduct; yet they should take care not to provoke them to wrath, because this alienates their minds from them, and renders their instructions and corrections useless, and puts them upon sinful practices; wrath lets in Satan, and leads to sin against God; and indeed it is difficult in the best of men to be angry and not sin; or Fathers are particularly mentioned, they being the heads of families, and are apt to be too severe, as mothers too indulgent. But bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord; instructing them in the knowledge of divine things, setting them good examples, taking care to prevent their falling into bad company, praying with them, and for them, bringing them into the house of God, under the means of grace, to attend publio worship; all which, under a divine blessing, may be very useful to them: the example of Abraham is worthy of imitation, Gen. 18:19 and the the advice of the wise man deserves attention, Prov. 22:6.

In short when the father display unjust anger to thier child they would tend to rebel against their father and God. Note the father not mother because he is the spiritual leader of the home. Here are 5 important but easily overlooked roles of a father.

1.Enforcer. Fatherlessness is a great concern in our society today. …

2.Encourager. Every child loves positive fatherly encouragement. …

3.Trainer. …

4.Counsellor.

5.The Jewish father must ensure the viability of his children’s future. He is obligated to teach his child Torah, teach him/her a trade, facilitate marriage, and even provide his child with swimming lessons. The father therefore guarantees the Jewishness of his son while equipping him with the tools he needs to cope with the world as a human being. Every step the father takes in rearing the child also empowers the child to take a step away from home. As Emmanuel Levinas states, “The father discovers himself not only in the gestures of his son, but in his substance and his unicity [uniqueness].”

The role the father with daughter, recent research has shown that a father’s influence in his daughter’s life shapes her self-esteem, self-image, confidence and opinions of men. A girl’s relationship with her dad can determine her ability to trust, her need for approval and her self-belief. It can even affect her love life

“The daughter who has a fulfilling relationship with her father is usually more trusting, more secure and more satisfied in her romantic relationships than the daughter with a troubled or distant relationship with her dad,” she said, adding that this is the case regardless of whether her parents are married or divorced

• “Women who grow up with meaningful, comfortable, conversational relationships with their dads make better choices in who they date, sleep with, and marry.” She adds, sadly, the converse is also true. When women don’t grow up affirmed and acknowledged by their fathers, they can suffer from low self-esteem and make bad choices in their lives. They can become needy, clingy, preoccupied with the relationship and always looking for reassurance from their partner

• Fathers shape their daughters’ self-esteem.

• Fathers influence their daughters’ body image.

• Father-daughter bonds are correlated with academic abilities.

• Fathers influence their daughters’ behavior.

• Fathers impact their daughters’ social traits.

• Fathers show their daughters how women deserve to be treated.

• Fathers can help determine their daughters’ persistence.

• Fathers help define future romantic relationships for their daughters.

• Fathers help define their daughters’ non-romantic relationships.

• Fathers are role models for their daughters whether they like it or not.

Fathers should also be role models for their daughters, teaching them how to live godly lives. In Proverbs 31:29, the Bible says, “Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.” A father can help his daughter become an excellent woman by teaching her what God’s Word says about womanhood.

It worth noting that the son rebels against God and society or daughter sleep around with different men both parties are respondsbities for their own actions. The father is responsible being the spiritual leader to thier children Remember we all are sinner in need of a savour, remember Jesus took our sins and replace with His righteousness. We are responsible for confessing our sins and believe He is the Son of God who sacrifice Himself on the cross for our sins.

I am not a father since I am unmarried and have no children but, if had children, I would take my responsibility as a spiritual leader seriously, however, I would take ownership of my failure as father particularly in the area being overbearing to your children and extremely hard a bad day is no excuse for your behaviour or ill manner. Going to your children confessing your failure is your your children is not sign of weakness is one the signs of being a spiritual leader of the home

Ephesians.6.5- 8, Bondservants, obey your earthly masters with fear and trembling, with a sincere heart, as you would Christ, not by the way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, knowing that whatever good anyone does, this he will receive back from the Lord, whether he is a bondservant or is free. rendering service with a good will as to the Lord and not to man,

Note Twice Christ mention once God mention twice Lord mention

Ephesians 6:5 (BBC): The third and final sphere of submission in the Christian household is that of servants to masters. The word Paul uses is bondservants or slaves, but the principles apply to servants or employees of all types.

The first duty of employees is to those who are their masters according to the flesh. The expression, masters according to the flesh, reminds us that the employer has jurisdiction as far as physical or mental work is concerned, but he cannot dictate in spiritual matters or command the conscience.

Second, servants should be respectful. Fear and trembling do not mean cowering servility and abject terror; they mean a dutiful respect and a fear of offending the Lord and the employer..

:, Services should be conscientious, or in sincerity of heart. We should endeavor to deliver sixty minutes of work for every hour of pay

Ephesians 6:6 (BBC): We should always be diligent, not only when the boss is looking, but conscious that our Master is always looking. It is a natural tendency to slack off when the employer is away, but it is a form of dishonesty. The Christian’s standards of performance should not vary according to the geographical location of the foreman.

A great incentive to do all as if to Christ is the assurance that He will reward every such good work.

Ephesians.6;:9 Masters, do the same to them, and stop your threatening, knowing that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and that there is no partiality with him. .

(CC Ga/Eph): In the treatment of their slaves, the laws granted to masters a vast amount of power over the slaves

All slaves and their families were the property of their owners, who could sell or rent them out at any time. Their lives were harsh. Slaves were often whipped, branded or cruelly mistreated. Their owners could also kill them for any reason, and would face no punishment..Slaves played an important role in society and the economy. Besides manual labour, slaves performed many domestic services and might be employed at highly skilled jobs and professions. Accountants and physicians were often slaves. Slaves of Greek origin in particular might be highly educated. Unskilled slaves, or those sentenced to slavery as punishment, worked on farms, in mines, and at mills. Most slaves were people captured in times of war. As the Roman Empire expanded, they often captured slaves from new lands they conquered. Other slaves were bought from slave traders and pirates who captured people from foreign lands and brought them to Rome. Legal rights meant nothing in the life of a Roman slave.

In the Jewish culture in tho Old Testament or in the Torah, they were treated with the respect they were part of the household. For example. If a fellow Hebrew, man or woman, is sold to you, he shall serve you six years, and in the seventh year, you shall set him free. When you set him free, do not let him go empty-handed: Furnish him out of the flock, threshing floor, and vat, with which the Lord your God has blessed you. Bear in mind that you were slaves in the land of Egypt and the Lord your God redeemed you; therefore I enjoin this commandment upon you today.

When you do set him free, do not feel aggrieved; for in the six years he has given you double the service of a hired man. Moreover, the LORD and your God will bless you in all you do.” (Deuteronomy 15:12-18)

To the texts concerning slavery in Exodus and Deuteronomy, I will now add the laws of manumission in Leviticus 25:39-55. If your kinsman under you continues in straits (lit. if your brother becomes poor) and must give himself over to you, do not subject him to the treatment of a slave. He shall remain with you as a hired or bound laborer; he shall serve with you only until the jubilee year. Then he and his children with him shall be free of your authority; he shall go back to his family and return to his ancestral holding. For they are My servants, whom I freed from the land of Egypt; they may not give themselves over into servitude. You shall not rule over him ruthlessly; you shall fear your God

In Psalms 124; 2 -3 My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. He will not let your foot be moved;he who keeps you will not slumber.

RSo, too, you should denigrate a servant, neither physically nor verbally. The Torah made him your servant to do work, not to be disgraced. Do not treat him with constant screaming and anger, rather speak with him pleasantly and listen to his complaints.

The follower of Christ who are masters or employers, especially in the Gentle cultures In Ephesians 6;4, Masters, do the same to them, and stop your threatening, knowing that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and that there is no partiality with him.

Or in. Phlm.1.10-11, 15-16I appeal to you for my child, Onesimus, whose father I became in my imprisonment. (Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.) For this perhaps is why he was parted from you for a while, that you might have him back forever, no longer as a bondservant but more than a bondservant, as a beloved brother—especially to me, but how much more to you, both in the flesh and in the Lord.

Philemon 10 (BBC): Philemon’s slave had run away and made his way to Rome. Somehow or other he had met Paul and had been converted. If was caught, they could be punished by being whipped, burnt with iron, or killed. Those who lived were branded on the forehead with the letters FUG, for fugitivus. Sometimes slaves had a metal collar riveted around the neck..

Philemon 11 (BBC): The slave who was returning to Philemon was a better slave than the one who had run away. It has been said that in NT times Christian slaves commanded a higher price on the market than others. It should be true today that Christian employees are more valuable as workers than unbelievers.

Philemon 16 (BBC): Philemon was not only getting Onesimus back—he was receiving him under better conditions than he had ever known him before. It would no longer be the customary master-slave relationship. Onesimus was now more than a slave; he was a beloved brother,

In 1Timotht 6:1 Christian slaves should work hard for their owners and respect them; never let it be said that Christ’s people are poor workers. Don’t let the name of God or his teaching be laughed at because of this.

ESV Let all who are under a yoke as bondservants regard their own masters as worthy of all honor, so that the name of God and the teaching may not be reviled.

John Gil: Let as many servants as are under the yoke, &c.] Not under the yoke of the law of God, or under the yoke of Christ; though the servants here spoken of were under both; but under the yoke of government, as the Arabic version renders it; that is, under the yoke of men, in a state of servitude, under the government of masters, and in their service; being either apprentices to them, or bought with their money, or hired by them: count their own masters worthy of all honour; and give it to them; which includes subjection to them; obedience to a

(BBC): The conduct of slaves is now brought before us. They are spoken of as bondservants who are under the yoke, that is, the yoke of slavery. The apostle, first of all, speaks to slaves who have unsaved masters. Should slaves in such a case act insolently toward their masters? Should they rebel or run away? Should they do as little work as possible? On the contrary, they should count their own masters worthy of all honor. This means that they should give them due respect, work obediently and faithfully, and in general seek to be a help rather than a hindrance. The great motive for such diligent service is that the testimony for Christ is involved. If a Christian slave were to act rudely or rebelliously, then the master would blaspheme the name of God and the Christian faith. He would conclude that believers were a worthless lot.

The history of the early church reveals that Christian slaves generally commanded a higher price on the slave market than unbelievers. If a master knew that a certain slave on the auction block was a Christian, he would generally be willing to pay more for that slave, since he knew that the slave would serve him faithfully and well. This is high tribute to the Christian faith.

This verse reminds us that no matter how low a person’s position may be on the social scale, yet he has every opportunity for witnessing for Christ and bringing glory to His name.

It has often been pointed out that the institution of slavery is not openly condemned in the NT. However, as the teachings of Christianity have spread, the abuses of slavery have been abolished.

Every true believer should realize that he is a bondslave of Jesus Christ. He has been bought with a price; he no longer belongs to himself. Jesus Christ owns him—spirit, soul, and body, and deserves the very best he has.

While I was employed I work under some unreasonable bosses I did not handle this well eventually I was discharged in some circumstances they were right in firing me. I simply did not like working there not easy person to work forduring that period. My dad told you best even if the circumstances sucks

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His (LORD)dw might.
