Mary And Martha

In John 11-1-2, 5, 19-21,27 The Death of LazarusNow a certain man was ill, Lazarus of Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha.whose brother Lazarus was ill.Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus.and many of the Jews had come to Martha and Mary to console them concerning their brother. So when Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went and met him, but Mary remained seated in the house.Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. But even now I know that whatever you ask from God, God will give you.”Martha said to him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day.”She said to him, “Yes, Lord; I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who is coming into the world.Jesus said, Martha, the sister of the dead man, said to him, “Lord, by this time there will be an odor, for he has been dead four days.”So they took away the stone.

In John 11: 2 32, 28It was Mary who anointed the Lord with ointment and wiped his feet with her hair.

Now when Mary came to where Jesus was and saw him, she fell at his feet, saying to him, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.” Jesus Weeps when she had said this, she went and called her sister Mary, saying in private, “The Teacher is here and is calling for you.

Or Luke 10; 38-49, Martha and Mary Now as they went on their way, Jesus entered a village. And a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house. But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.”And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to his teaching.

It is worth noting they are both women and sisters with different personalities and they love, and Jesus love them and were devoted followers of Christ. Martha understood that Lazarus, would rise again in last day.” She also stated “Yes, Lord; I believe Jesus Christ, meaning anointed one is the Son of God, who is came into the world. Furthermore, she believes whatever you ask from God, God will give to Jesus.

John.12. 2 So they gave a dinner for him there. Martha served, and Lazarus was one of those reclining with him at table.

Where Mary anointed the Lord feet with ointment and wiped her hair, John 12;3 She also stated “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. Jesus was moved and wept said to Mary where have laid him. Mary therefore took a pound of expensive ointment made from pure nard, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. John.12.3 Jesus said leave her alone It was intended that she should save this perfume for the day of my burial.

Jesus remove the stone Martha said, Lord, by this time there will be an odor, for he has been dead four days.

Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?” 41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead man was lying.

Jesus was Martha gently rebuking in Luke 10; 41- 42, Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” And a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house. But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.” Charles R. Erdman writes: While the Master does appreciate all that we undertake for Him, He knows that our first need is to sit at His feet and learn His will; then in our tasks we shall be calm and peaceful and kindly, and at last our service may attain the perfectness of that of Mary when in a later scene she poured upon the feet of Jesus the ointment, the perfume of which still fills the world.

Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to his teaching.

We need the Martha personility within the church and home. I know a few Martha within Church trying keep with them it a chore in self. However, we Mary as well she at feet Jesus drinking His teaching. For example the Apostle Paul in Acts 22;3 educated at the feet of Gamaliel.

Remember they were women the Apostle Paul in 1 Timothy 2; 11 A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. They understand the the Bible as well men. In most cases they more gifted and smarter than man
