The Power Of God Forgiveness

The Power Of God Forgiveness Through Christ

But you will receive power {dunamis}  when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1;8

But we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to the Jews and foolishness to the Gentiles. 24 Yet to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is God’s power {dunamis} and God’s wisdom,  1 Corinthians 1. 23

16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The urgent request of a righteous person is very powerful [dunatos] in its effect.

James 5; 16

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is God’s power {dunamis} for salvation to everyone who believes, Romans 1;16

The word in power in Greek is  dunamis meaning might, power, marvelous works; Where the Follower of Christ are given abilities  by the Holy Spirit after accepting that they are sinner, and Jesus atones them from theirs sins, dýnamis) is needed in every scene of life to really grow in sanctification and prepare for heaven (glorification). 1411 (dýnamis) is a very important term, used 120 times in the NT. The English word is Dynamite meaning; a substance used for causing explosions, especially for breaking rock into pieces or informal meaning:Something or someone that is good or very good:master piece , inspiration, miracle or Her new album is dynamite! They put on a dynamite performance. Slang word something exceptionally exciting or wonderful.

Encyclopedia of The Bible; define power Believers live in the world, but the weapons of their warfare “are not worldly but have divine power to destroy strongholds” (2 Cor 10:4). That power is made perfect in weakness (2 Cor 12:9). Believers take their share of suffering in the power of God (2 Tim 1:8). God “did not give us a spirit of timidity but a spirit of power and love and self-control” (2 Tim 1:7). Divine power at work within us “is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think” (Eph 3:20). We, like Paul, may know the power of Christ’s Resurrection (Phil Eph 1:19). God “may fulfil every good resolve and work of faith by his power” (2 Thess 1:11). “The prayer of a righteous man has great powerful in its effects” (James 5:16).

Two times in this paragraph they use the word powerful the Greek is dunatos meaning very powerful or able , A person describing what is made possible because of the power (ability) exerted by the subject; Five times the word power is mention in this paragraph. The Greek word is dunamis,

For an example using dynamite to level a building down. Simply placing several sticks of dynamite around the frame work of building would level the structure within minutes.  If Paul were writing today, he would probably speak of atomic power.

Power of sin. Fallen men have an evident ability to worship and serve the creature rather than the Creator. Both Jews and Greeks are “under the power of sin” (Rom 3:9). Paul supports the universality of this judgment (Rom 1:18-3:20). His thought may be similar to that of Christ who said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, every one who commits sin is a slave to sin” (John 8:34).

The Greek word for forgiveness is charizomai;  to show one’s self gracious, kind, benevolent, to grant forgiveness, to pardon, to give graciously, give freely, bestow. Or to forgive graciously. to restore one to another, to preserve for one a person in peril

Eastern Bile Dictionary define forgiveness that The sinner is by this act of grace for ever freed from the guilt and penalty of his sins. This is the peculiar prerogative of God. God absolves the sinner from the condemnation of the law, and that on account of the work of Christ on the cross/

For example, Charles Tex Watson was found guilty of slaughtering seven people was guilty as charged. On October 21, 1971, was found guilty, and sentenced to death. He escaped execution when the California Supreme Court’s overturned the death penalty, and he was sentenced to life in prison.

While in prison he was extremely restless, and his mother encouraged him trust in Christ and prayed for him as well; however, there was still no peace in his life. One day He was attending chapel service, and  he heard a message on one 1 Timothy 1; 15- 16; “ This is a trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance: “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners “–and I am the worst of them. But, I received mercy for this reason, so that in me, the worst of them, Christ Jesus might demonstrate His extraordinary patience for instance to those who would believe in Him for eternal life.”

Than he confess and repent, and believed in Christ.  There was a peace and ecstatic joy that he never felt before in his life. When he went back to his  cell , he looked into the mirror, and he saw a smile on his face that brightened up his cell. According to Tex, he never experience this while on drugs or alcohol. The only experience he felt  was unending sadness, no rest, and no pleasure in his life only misery. One minute he was carrying heavy burden like ball of chain around neck. The next moment he was free as a bird. When he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ into life. the heaviness he felt was gone, and a smile was on his face. The sorrow and restlessness were gone, and it was replaced with  endless happiness and it was all for free. One his quotes.,”“In the world  when something is broken, it is set aside. But in the Kingdom of God, He sets aside the unbroken thing.  It is the precious, broken thing that He uses to confound the wise and show the world His glory through vessels of clay.”

David Berowitz known as the Son of Sam or 44 Caliber Killer  was responsible for terrorizing New York City. Killing  six people and wounded seven others. On August 10, 1977,  was arrested., and confessed to the crime and plead guilty, and was sentenced to 365 years in prison. While in court he has repulsive smile, and keep repeating in a low voice Stacy was a whore.”

Much what haunted him while living free hung his neck especailly at night time, When he was alone in his cell trying to sleep.

Ten year later a prison inmate name Rick that Jesus love him and He wanted to forgive him, and had a plan and purpose in his life. Rick gave him bible he read it until  until  he read Psalms 34;6 “This poor soul cried, and the Eternal heard me.He rescued me from my troubles.” ” He said this prayer; “I told Him that I was sick and tired of doing evil and asked Jesus to forgive me for all his sins.”.

When I got up it felt as if a very heavy burden  an invisible chain that had been around me for so many years was suddenly broken. A peace flooded over him. He did not understand what was happening. But in his heart He just knew that my life, somehow, would be different. He slept like a baby that night.

John MacArthur spokes these words  in sermon called.  A Plan on for Dying In Your Sins spoke these words, March 09 2014,  “Eternal destiny comes down to a decision about one person.  Isn’t that amazing?  Why do we preach Christ?  Why do we preach Christ?  Because he’s the one person.  No man comes to the Father but by me.  There’s no salvation in any other.  I am the way, the truth and the life.  You must believe that I am. That’s at the heart of Justification By Faith is simply believing in the atoning work of Christ and his death on cross was sufficient penally for His Father. You need to simply believe that it.”

Lewis Johnson stated in a sermon called, The Means of Justification, or the Office of Faith in Justification and spoke these words,       “ On To whom does he give it? To the handsome? To the well-born? To those who  are earnest in the exercise of their free will? Church members? Those who have been baptized and sit regularly at the Lord’s table? Southerners?  Politicians? Lawyers? Even lawyers can be saved. No, the Bible says that faith as a gift of God is given to his own people. His own people. They are the ones to whom faith is given. The Lord Jesus came to save his people. That was his name, Jesus, for he shall save his people from their sins. And a step along the way is the regeneration that issues in faith and justification. So, for by grace are you saved through the instrumentality of a God-given faith.

Isn’t it great to know that we have salvation? Isn’t it great to know that we have been given by God faith to believe in our Lord Jesus Christ? John Newton compose song called Amazing Grace. “T’was Grace that taught…my heart to fear. And Grace, my fears relieved. How precious did that Grace appear…the hour I first believed.” In that power {dunamis} gospel changed person instantly

What does the Bible Says about the gospel appears foolish to many people. Yet the irony is that it is far more powerful than even the strongest players in our culture can imagine. Forgiveness is powerful and liberating and is a power that Jesus has delegated to His followers.

 The Power Of Forgiving Others

Richard A Thornton was strong advocate death penalty because Deborah Thornton his wife was murder by Karla Faye Tucker, and voice ugly thing to the media. Such as. “I have not met too many “wonderful ” people who are capable of swinging a pick axe into two different people more than sixty different times and enjoying it so much that they told several people that they had a sexual orgasm with each swing.” Believe me there is vengeance in Heaven, and his wife would be getting even with Karla Faye Tucker in Heaven.” Karla uttered these words, “I feel his pain for it was me that causes the pain on him when I murdered his wife.”

She in heaven because Jesus forgave her of sins. While she is remorseful for committing this act even thou forgiven by God. Because of her transformed life, she was able translated to the world was changed person. What does the Bible says about Forgiveness is powerful and liberating and is a power that Jesus has delegated to His followers, When others observe us and the way we use power and authority; they ought to see Jesus.

Her last word were testimony that she was transformed person “Yes sir, I would like to say to all of you— the Thornton family and Jerry Dean’s family— that I am so sorry. I hope God will give you peace with this. (She looked at her husband) Baby, I love you. (She looked at Ronald Carson) Ron, give Peggy a hug for me. (She looked at all present weeping and smiling) Everybody has been so good to me. I love all of you very much. I am going to be face to face with Jesus now. Warden Baggett, Thank all of you so much. You have been so good to me. I love all of you very much. I will see you all when you get there. I will wait for you.”

Richard A Thornton is right about one thing justice was serve,  whenKarla Faye Tucker was executed killing his wife; however, he carry heavy ball unforgivingness around his neck that has blinded him.  Remember his wife was cheating on him by sleeping with another man named Jerry Lynn Dean.  Bitterness and hatred is also a sin. To his point He should be like his former brother in law Ron Carson who forgave Karla for murdering his sister, and all the bitterness, and hatred was lifted from him a heaviness he bore long after he was a follower of Christ.

Family members call him, and said that her sister would be rolling in her grave and encouraging him to dissociate himself from Karla. Naturally, he refused because he understood for first time what true forgiveness felt like and truly understood that all his and her sins her were nailed to the cross and Jesus forgave them both.

Sean Sellar wrote in his journal he wrote It’s so easy to appear righteous next to a murderer, but here are two facts in the Kingdom of God: First of all, I repented of those sins 13 years ago soon after they happened, and I’ve been serving God ever since. And second of all, it isn’t ME you have to compare yourself to, it’s God’s holiness. Don’t look at my sin and think yourself clean, look at GOD!”

Both Karla Faye Tucker and Ron Carson confess and repented of theirs sins no longer bear the scars of sins Ron Carson in choosing to forgive Karla no longer bear bitterness that plaques for years.

To Richard A Thornton quote about vengeance in heaven where his wife Deborah would even Karla, She would be hugging Karla because both are among the saints.

Another example is Susan Labianca daughter of Rosemary Labianca who became a Christian. Started corresponding with Tex Watson, who murdered her parent on Aug.10 1969. Tex corresponded back thinking she writing to encourage him. She  finality came to visited Tex in prison. She finally revealed herself  as the daughter of Rosemary Labianca. Tex was stunned, and in tears, Because Susan became a follower of Christ as a Christian she felt obligation to forgive Tex for killing his mother and step dad, because Tex was a brother in the Lord, and has change.

The key to living a Christian life is that forgiving others an as Christ forgave you. Both Ron Carson and Susan Labianca learned over period of time that bitterness is an awful weed that consumed your heart, soul, and mind. As scripture states,” if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; or,” be kind to one another, tender-hearted forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.

The Power Forgiving Yourself

Brothers, I do not[c consider myself to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and reaching forward to what is ahead.Philippians 3; 13

The hardest thing to do is to forgive yourself even thou you confess and repent your sins to Christ, and He has forgiven you of all your sins cleanse you of all your unrighteousness. As scripture declares, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. To often past sins tend to linger and haunt us and we hold like millstone round our necks.  To often throw pity party, and invite no one in, and reading the same old riot act yourself.  Forgiving yourself is important to Christian living.

In excellent off piece all about address about forgiving yourself God wrote. Forgiving yourself is not specifically addressed in the Bible, but there are principles regarding forgiveness that should be applied. For example, when God forgives us, it states that He remembers our sins no more found in Jeremiah 31; 34

God does not choose to forgive one person and not another. He forgives everyone who believes in Jesus Christ. Forgiving yourself is simply letting go of what you are holding against yourself so that you can move on with God. If God has moved on, shouldn’t we do the same. If Jesus forgave you should not forgive yourself. Put into practice those things that we have learned from God and from His Word. To continue to rehearse in our thoughts the events of our transgression, opposes found in Philippians 4;8

If you do not forgive yourself of past sins, it is a form of pride. Whenever we enact a different set of rules, a higher set of standards for ourself over others that are pride. Holding on your pass sins would it making more spiritual less spiritual or would aid more height to your stature. Jesus declared these words Can any of you add a single cubit to his height by worrying? Furthermore He stated, But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you.

As Scripture declares, Love “keeps no record of wrongs” The work. No records is logizetai meaning; to reckon, count, compute, calculate, count over. To take into account, to make an account of; the same word is found in Romans 4; 5 credit [logizetai] for righteousness Logizetai is found four times in The New Testament In the same way, forgiving oneself means to experience the love that keeps no record of our own wrongs.

For example Sean Sellers was a Satanist and committed murdered killing three people, and was found guilty, and sentenced to death in 1986. Well in prison someone left a gospel pamphlet in a jail cell, and he read it and accepted Jesus Christ as Lord Savour, and became a follower of Jesus Christ.  However, according to one of the videos he wasn’t sure if he killed his parents or the store clerk. Over a period of time he discovered that he was responsible for murdering these people, and he felt remorses for taking a life in the name of Satan. He uttered these words. “These are the ghosts I live with, and I hate myself for all I became and did. I am not just sorry, I am haunted. I think of all the people I hurt, of all the moments I stole from your lives, and I know I deserve to die.

Jesus reminded Sean’s that he forgave him for all his sins. That he chose to forgave himself even thou still haunt him

On Oct 22 1988, a Halloween television special, on Devil Worship: Exposing Satan’s Underground, Geraldo Rivera had Sean Sellars and he Sean Stated these words,“ O I believe in the Devil, “but I don’t worship the Devil. I’m a Christian. I stand up boldly, and proudly a he stated and proclaim my faith in Jesus.” And then, to reiterate, “There is no way out of Satanism except through Jesus Christ.

February 1, 1999, He wrote in his journal he wrote  It’s so easy to appear righteous next to a murderer, but here are two facts in the Kingdom of God: First of all, I repented of those sins 13 years ago soon after they happened, and I’ve been serving God ever since. And second of all, it isn’t. ME you have to compare yourself to, it’s God’s holiness. Don’t look at my sin and think yourself clean, look at GOD!”

His last words were,”” All the people who are hating me right now and are here waiting to see me die, when you wake up in the morning, you aren’t going to feel any different. You are going to hate me as much tomorrow as you do tonight.”

The key to living a Christian life is that is forgiving others and yourself as Christ for gave you.

  • Playing the same sins over your mind is wrong, and put into questions whether Jesus truly forgave you of your sins

  • Forgive yourself since Christ already forgiving you and put it behind you and move on.

  • Take responsibility. Be honest with yourself, stop rationalizing, and accept the guilt. ↓

  • Let go of the past. Realize that no one is perfect. Don’t dwell on past mistakes.

  • If past sins and are repeated only deal with the present ones because already since past sin are already being dealt with

  • Remember God has not dealt with us as our sins deserveor repaid us according to our offenses.

  • God takes those same hurts and sins, and turn them into a ministry in which often bring comfort, and joy to those who were hurt by their past sins.

  • A broken friendship that is mended through forgiveness can be even stronger than it once was. Stephen Richards

Personal Observation on forgiveness

For He knows what we are made of, remembering that we are dust. Psalm 103;14

My sister and pastor friend mine utter these words that they not Jesus in forgiving a person instantly when talking to them about forgiveness. On the account of our sinful nature, we tend to recall in great details the offences we committed on ourselves or others hurting or those offending us. We tend to play these offences in HD over and over in our mines. For instance, two siblings get into a heated discussion both leaving in huff playing the argument in their head and recalling every fault with great clarity in which that person hurl them. Or the person whom you were arguing with is doing the same thing to you. Forgetting that both them are equality as guilty.

Often I would write a letter to myself accusing the other person what they did to me and than I put the letter down, and give myself a week, and seek God wisdom. Through that week God would show and convict me where I was wrong.

Than I would review the letter in which it was for other the person, and would convict of the wrongdoing. Even thou it attends for them.Be honest with myself, stop rationalizing, and accept the guilt. Than I would take responsibility for my actions, and write another letter to that person seeking forgiveness. No longer would I feel the heavy burden it was lifted from me. Part of forgiveness taking ownership of it, and taking actions.and restoring that relationship with that individual.  The most thing is forgiving yourself and the offenders remember that Christ forgave you and them.

THe late Dr. Lewis Johnson, “There is no salvation in

the church. There is no salvation in good works. There is no salvation in baptism.  There is no salvation in the Lord’s supper. There is no salvation in education.  There is no salvation in culture. There is surely no salvation in citizenship. Salvation finds it source in the blood that was shed on Calvary’s cross, and the atoning work that our Lord accomplished, but this saving work is for all who believe. If you are here and God has spoken to your heart and reminded you of the fact that you are a sinner, salvation’s for you.  Come to Christ.  Trust in him.  Believe in him. Bow your head before him and your heart before him.  Confess your need and receive as a free gift our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.  For as Paul says, “For by grace are you saved.
